Annadale Junior Hockey Club helped the ‘push back’ of the inaugural flight today (15th June 2018) as the players headed off to take part in the UK Under 13 Hockey Championships in Nottingham. The 15-strong squad from Annadale Hockey Club represent seven different schools in Belfast and this will be the 13th time the team will have competed in the Championships.

Flybe Chief Commercial Officer, Roy Kinnear, said: “Doncaster is a new destination for Flybe from Belfast and really strengthens our offering to customers travelling to and from the recognised ‘Gateway to Yorkshire’. The airport is conveniently located just 5km from Doncaster and less than 30km from Sheffield; and today’s inaugural flight coincided with the opening of the Great Yorkshire Way motorway link road from the M18 leading directly to the airport.

“We were delighted to welcome the Annadale Under 13’s onto this first flight and wish the team every success in the national tournament.”

Ellie McGimpsey, Aviation Development Manager at Belfast City Airport, said: “Doncaster is a great addition to our ever-expanding UK and Ireland route network and we’re delighted to welcome the first passengers to Belfast today. Flybe is our largest airline by number of routes and our strong relationship ensures frequent connectivity to a number of locations for both business and leisure passengers.”
