JMK Solicitors and CRASH Services, which has offices in both Newry and Belfast, has raised a heroic £13,000 towards NI Chest Heart and Stroke’s Heart Strong campaign.   As part of their year-long partnership with the charity, the campaign saw the firm become Local Heart Heroes, joining a team of heroes who are passionate about raising awareness of heart disease in Northern Ireland, fundraising towards a new Heart Strong care service which the charity is planning to pilot this year.

Heart Strong, the first ever heart health and recovery service for Northern Ireland, will bridge the gap between rehabilitation after treatment and getting back to normal life, helping people with a heart condition grow beyond their current capabilities.

Ashleen Poland from JMK Solicitors joined 12 other local heart heroes to share their reasons why they were supporting NI Chest Heart and Stroke’s Local Heart Heroes campaign. During the specially organised shoot she said; “It’s very important for us, as a local firm, to support a local charity. Many of our colleagues have a personal connection to the charity so it’s great we can raise money for them.”

Jonathan McKeown, Chief Executive Officer of CRASH and Chairman of JMK Solicitors, presented NI Chest Heart and Stroke with the cheque at Christmas added; “We’re very proud to have been one of the charity’s corporate partners as part of their local heart heroes Christmas appeal, and even prouder of our workforce in Belfast and Newry who have given their time and donations so generously to the charity.

Jackie Trainor, Director of Income Generation at Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke added; “The team at JMK Solicitor’s voted to support our charity and we are so grateful for their support. They’re all local heroes and are helping local hearts by supporting the fight against heart disease in Northern Ireland.”

The Heart Strong campaign is raising vital funds to support local heart research into early identification of heart disease and the pilot of the charity’s new Heart Strong service, wholly dedicated to those living with heart disease in Northern Ireland.  To learn more, visit www.nichs.org.uk.
