Economy Minister Diane Dodds has reiterated her commitment to developing key partnerships between Northern Ireland and the United States, and the potential for delivering business growth and increased investment into Northern Ireland. Speaking in New York at a Chartered Accountants Ireland member networking event last evening (9 March), the Minister said she recognised the key role of Chartered Accountants Ireland members in attracting investment to Northern Ireland, and its strong and influential network.

As an all-island body, the Institute has over 4,700 members in Northern Ireland and has 1,100 members in North America, many holding senior positions in business and finance. Last evening’s event attracted an influential audience of business leaders and senior Irish Chartered Accountants representing all sectors of business.

Diane Dodds, Economy Minister of Northern Ireland, said: “My trip to the US is about highlighting the many strengths and benefits of investing in Northern Ireland. I am committed to helping business accelerate growth and support both local and inward investment.”

Echoing the Minister’s sentiments, Conall O’Halloran, President of Chartered Accountants Ireland, reiterated the Institute’s commitment to the all-island economy and pointed out the particular value of the accountancy skillset in contributing to business development.

Over the course of a lively questions and answers session with the Minister, the importance of retaining the talent pool in Northern Ireland and the mutual recognition of professional qualifications post-Brexit was emphasised.
